About the rum
It began with the vision of a rum so elegant, round and flavorful the world’s greatest chefs would offer it alongside cognac and whiskey. A rum so finely distilled it needed nothing—no sugar, vanilla or pirate stories—to enhance the incomparable taste. A rum that was global yet placeless, contemporary yet ageless. Above all, a social rum, created by friends for friends. Now, after more than 10 years of pursuit, the vision is a reality. We call it 4X50.
The master distiller
Tradition and modernity live in perfect harmony on the land of Hans Reisetbauer. Like the 14 generations of Hanses before him, he is a farmer through and through. But he is also one of the world’s great distillers, a master craftsman with a relentless drive to innovate. To realize his vision of the perfect rum, he designed the most sophisticated distillery ever built. Paired with Hans’s rare gift of taste, the distillery unlocks whole new realms of flavor. The result is 4X50.
The perfect rum begins with the perfect molasses. Hans found his in Mauritius, where a Fairtrade-certified collective of small farmers produce a style that is elegant, fine and flowery. For the perfect water, Hans tapped his secret Alpine source, a primary rock massif formed during the tertiary period. The high degree of granite in the rock gives the water an exceptional softness.
Two stills equipped with 36 sensors each. Cameras outside and in. A specially programmed computer system that processes complex data in real time, creating the possibility to ferment the molasses using different yeasts at different temperatures. All were necessary to innovate on an ancient process, unlocking the true potential of 4X50. But it is only by tasting, adjusting, tasting again—all day, almost every day—that Hans arrives at the consistent flavor of rum that is, for him, perfection.
Blended for more than two months in 8000L Pichon-Longueville casks, then matured in 500L casks of the finest Ysper oak, the final 4X50 product, light amber in color, is full-bodied, smooth, round and bursting with flavor. The nose is rich with spicy aromas, smoky notes, delicate caramel, and hints of orange zest. The palate, balanced yet extremely complex, offers hints of exotic fruits, smoky notes and pure sugarcane notes. The finish is delicate, multi-layered, impressive and very long. Remarkably, the taste is achieved with no additives of any kind, not even sugar.

- 4,5 cl 4X50, R.N.P. Finely Distilled Superior Rum
- 2 cl Orange Juice
- 2 cl Lemon Juice
- 2 cl Lime Cordial
- 1,5 cl Cherry Hering
- 1 cl Triple sec
- 3,5 cl soda
- 1 orange slice
Shake in a shaker on cube ice, strain into a long drink glass on cube ice and pour soda. Garnish with orange slice.
